Principal
Dr. Angela Mitchell

I’m a proud Georgia native, raised in the close-knit South Georgia town of Ashburn in Turner County. As a lifelong learner and passionate educator, I began my academic journey at Clark Atlanta University, earning both my B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics in 1998. I went on to earn an M.Ed. in Mathematics Education from Georgia State University in 1999, followed by an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology in 2002 and an Ed.D. in School Improvement in 2014, both from the University of West Georgia.
I began my teaching career in 1999 at Washington High School in Atlanta Public Schools, where I taught every math course from Algebra I to Calculus. In 2008, I joined North Atlanta High School as a mathematics instructional coach. Since then, I’ve had the honor of serving in multiple leadership roles—including Assistant Principal beginning in 2012, and most recently, Interim Principal during the 2024–2025 school year.
As the daughter of two educators, I’ve always been deeply committed to student success and teacher growth. My greatest passion is partnering with educators to improve learning outcomes for all students. I’m continually inspired by the words of renowned educator Rita Pierson:
Every child deserves a champion; an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.
Beyond the walls of school, I’m a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a dog lover, a devoted sister, and a very proud aunt to Madison and Kobe. I love documentaries, true-crime podcasts, sports cars, fashion, and a variety of music including country, R&B and hip-hop—interests that keep me grounded and connected to the world and my students.
As the Principal of North Atlanta High School, It is truly an honor to serve and I believe that together, we can continue building a thriving and inclusive school where every student is inspired, supported, and empowered to reach their highest potential.

Venisha Johnson

9th Grade Assistant Principal
I began my career as an educator in January 2008, starting as a secondary mathematics teacher. As a classroom teacher, I had the privilege of serving in various educational settings, including public schools, interrelated classrooms, a psycho-educational facility, and even a youth detention center. It's been an incredible experience.
Over half of my education career has been dedicated to serving the North Atlanta community. My tenure at NAHS began in August 2015 when I joined as a Geometry teacher. In August 2018, I took on the role of Intervention Specialist, supporting Section 504 and Hospital/Homebound programs. Now, as of September 2023, I am honored to be a proud assistant principal at NAHS continuing to support the growth and success of students and the community.
In my spare time, I love being the world’s best auntie and binge-watching murder mysteries!
