Parking

Students Driving:

• All student drivers (and visitors) should enter the garage via the entrance NORTH of the school (see yellow arrows.) They should NOT enter with Carpool and buses to attempt the U-turn into the Garage.  This entrance will require badge access.   
• A parking permit is required. 
• Students should park ONLY on levels 2 and above and not on the ramps.
• Upon leaving the Garage, follow the exit South to Northside Pkwy.
• Go slowly and follow all rules set forth in the NAHS parking contract.
• In case of traffic incident on campus, please report it to the front office so that a school resource officer can be called.

Carpool Drivers:

• Drop off begins at 8:00 am. DO NOT drop off students before that time due.
• Follow the blue arrows to the front of the Lakeside building.
• Form two lines; as you enter the portico, keep right toward the sidewalk/curb areas. Leave the left lanes open for parents who have already dropped off/picked up and proceed slowly and with caution to exit the carpool area.
• No cell phone use please.
• Students should not exit cars until they have reached the front door. 
• Do not park under the portico or along the curb if entering the school for any reason at any time. These are FIRE and EMERGENCY lanes and must be kept clear

To ensure the safety and organization of our school community, all student drivers must follow the rules listed below when using the North Atlanta High School parking deck. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action or loss of parking privileges. Please know that additional cameras and vehicle tag readers have been added to the parking deck.

Parking Permit Requirements

• Permit Displayed: All vehicles must display a valid school-issued parking permit hanging from the rear view mirror or placed clearly on the dashboard.
• Registration: Vehicles must be registered with the school prior to parking. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense.
• Non-Transferable: Each permit is issued to one student and may not be lent or shared.

Driving Expectations

• Slow Speed: The speed limit within the parking deck is 5 MPH. Reckless or unsafe driving is prohibited.
• Pedestrian Priority: Drivers must always yield to pedestrians.
• No Loitering: Students must exit their vehicle promptly and proceed to the building; staying in or around the vehicle is not permitted.

Parking Guidelines

• Assigned Levels: Students must park in their designated levels the 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th levels of the deck. Parking in faculty, visitor, or disabled-access spaces without proper authorization is forbidden.
• Unblocked Access: Do not obstruct lanes, entrances, exits, or other vehicles.
• Cleanliness: Keep your spot free of trash or personal items.

Prohibited Behaviors

• Volume Control: Music should be kept at a respectful level while entering, exiting, or parked.
• No Smoking/Vaping: Smoking, vaping, or using illegal substances in the parking deck is strictly prohibited.
• Off‑Campus Transport: Transporting other students off campus during school hours without approval is not allowed.
• Re-visiting Vehicles: Students are not allowed to visit vehicles throughout the day. Students should only return to vehicles when leaving campus for the day.

Enforcement & Consequences

• Warnings & Citations: Breaking rules can result in warnings, tickets, or disciplinary actions.
• Permit Revocation: Repeated violations can lead to suspension or permanent revocation of parking privileges (without refund).
• Tow Policy: Unauthorized or violating vehicles may be towed at owner expense.

Operating Hours

• The parking deck is open to students from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on school days.
• After-hours use is prohibited unless special written permission is granted.

Student Responsibility

By parking in the North  Atlanta High School deck, students acknowledge that they are responsible for abiding by these rules and that the school is not liable for any theft, damage, or loss to vehicles or personal items.

All parking permit recipients consent to the following NAHS Parking Procedures. 

All cars parked in the deck will also be checked against the list of registered cars. Any car not registered faces the possibility of being ticketed, booted or towed.

Rules and Regulations

• Each person who chooses to park a vehicle at North Atlanta High School during normal school day hours must obtain a parking permit. An area will be designated for legal parking. 
• Failure/refusal to comply with this regulation shall result in the voiding of the permit and/or issuance of a parking citation. 
• Parking permits are not transferable from one vehicle to another or from one individual to another. If you have a temporary car, please complete a new application. You will not have to pay for any car after the first one on file.
• Permission to park will be granted upon application and payment of the parking fee. No refund will be made. 
• Disciplinary infractions may result in suspension of parking on campus for long or short term, at the discretion of school administration. If this occurs, no refund will be issued for parking fees.
• Parking and traffic violators on campus shall be subject to, but not limited to, one or more of the following discipline consequences: 
• For minor violations, fine imposed must be paid the next day of school or imposed fine is increased $1.00 per day; and/or 
  • Suspension of parking on campus; (No refund will be made); 
  • Removal of parking permit; (No refund will be made); 
  • Impounding of vehicle per County Ordinance or Georgia State Law; 

For serious violations, State Court Traffic Ticket may be issued. 

• Failure to respond to a citation issued by a School Resource Officer shall be grounds for cancelling the parking permit, and the vehicle may be impounded at the discretion of the principal or his/her designee. 
• No parking permit may be bought for or transferred to another student for any reason. 
• Permits are to be issued to students who qualify for parking privileges as determined by the principal. 
• Parking and traffic violations on campus subject to above discipline shall be, but not limited to the following: 
  • Parking an unregistered vehicle on campus 
  • Parking in reserved places 
  • Parking at yellow curb or in "No Parking" or "Fire Lane" areas 
  • Parking in loading docks, service roads, driveways and walkways 
  • Parking in unpaved areas
  • Parking in entrance or exits of parking lots
  • Parking at an angle or in a manner so as to utilize two parking spaces
  • Breaking a gate at an entrance or exit to the deck
  • Failing to stop for "Stop" signs 
  • Failing to vacate the vehicle on arrival at school 
  • Failing to leave the school campus upon entering the vehicle 
  • Giving false information and/or falsely registering a vehicle
  • Operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license (learner's permit not acceptable)
  • Reproducing, altering, defacing, or improperly displaying a parking permit
  • Unauthorized parking in handicap parking spaces
  • Driving too fast for conditions
  • Reckless conduct with the vehicle
  • Speed shall not exceed 15 mph on campus
  • All applicable State Law, Traffic Laws and Local Ordinances

The driver/owner of any vehicle will be responsible for the use of his/her vehicle while on campus, and subsequently for a violation of the above rules and regulations by persons other than himself/herself if the offense is committed with or in his/her vehicle. 

North Atlanta High School & APS shall not be responsible for the losses or damages to the property of users of its facilities, including loss due to bodily injury.

Proof of insurance and a current Georgia Driver's License as required by state law shall be required prior to the assignment of a parking permit. 
The local school principal is authorized to take action designed to prevent a student's cutting of class or non-attendance contrary to law and Board of Education policy (truancy). To emphasize the importance of being on time to school, of remaining at school, and attendance at school, the high school principal or his/her designee will suspend a student's parking privilege for the remainder of any semester at the time of the sixth unexcused tardy or for the unauthorized departure from school. The suspension of parking privileges will extend for at least forty-five (45) school days. If the semester has less than forty-five (45) school days remaining when the suspension occurs, the balance of the suspension will be served at the beginning of the next semester. There will be no refund for the cost of the parking permit. At the conclusion of the suspension of parking privileges, the student may reapply and purchase a parking permit if parking spaces are available. 

North Atlanta High School Parking Contract

• Students will have parking privileges revoked should they leave or attempt to leave school without written permission through the attendance office or NAHS Administration. This includes any student who drives, rides as a passenger off campus or walks off campus without permission. 
• Students shall also relinquish all parking privileges should they transport, attempt to transport, or drop off another student who does not have appropriate permission to leave campus. It is the driver’s responsibility to check for a student’s dismissal pass. This includes during lunch time. 
• Students are responsible for all information printed on the rules and regulations of the parking application. 
• Students are responsible for any parking violations committed by other students using their vehicle. 
• All illegal or improperly parked cars may be issued a parking citation. 
• Illegally parked vehicles on campus may be towed without notice at the owner’s expense. 
• Parking permits can’t be given, loaned, or sold to another student. Permits must be applied directly to the passenger’s side front windshield. Permits must be on the vehicle before the car is parked on campus. 
• Truancy and/or excessive absences to school could adversely affect a student’s parking privilege. 
• Seven or more unexcused tardies to school will result in the loss of student parking. 
• Suspension for any drug, alcohol, or weapons may result in the loss of parking. 
• Students need administrative permission to go to the parking lot during the school day. 
• Any student who loses parking privileges will not receive any refund of parking fees.
